Rok 2017 – aký bol? (The year 2017 – how was it?)

Pool swimming, open water swimming, synchronized swimming, triathlon and a try at diving – those are the sports that I took pictures of in 2017. I’ve been to various competitions, from ordinary competitions to Slovak and World Championships.

The most interesting ones were the Memorial Race of Pavol Vajda in Puchov because of the nice approach of organizers toward little kids, the Slovak Championships in long-distance swimming in Zlate Piesky because of the new surroundings, the M.E.C. Cup in synchronized swimming because of the artistic experience, which the girls create while competing. Then the Zilina Triathlon because of the complexity of the event and amazing atmosphere and, of course, I cannot forget the highlight of the year – the World Championships in Budapest.


Bazénové plávanie, otvorená voda, synchro, triatlon a na skúšku aj skoky do vody – to sú športy, z ktorých som si v roku 2017 “ukradol” zopár fotografií. Boli to súťaže rôznych úrovní – od bežných pretekov cez Majstrovstvá Slovenska až po Majstrovstvá sveta.

Najzaujímavejšími boli pre mňa Memoriál Pavla Vajdu v Púchove pre krásny prístup usporiadateľov k malým deťom, Majstrovstvá Slovenska v diaľkovom plávaní na Zlatých Pieskoch pre pre mňa nové prostredie, M.E.C. Cup v synchronizovanom plávaní pre umelecký zážitok, ktorý pri synchre dievčatá vytvárajú, Žilinský triatlon pre komplexnosť akcie a výbornú atmosféru a samozrejme zabudnúť nemôžem na vrchol celého roka – Majstrovstvá sveta vo vodných športoch v Budapešti.


What else was interesting?

I have been cooperating with the swimming website SwimSwam.com since 2015. In 2017, more than 387 articles in six languages with my photos were published on the website.

Čo zaujímavé sa mi prihodilo ešte?

Od roku 2015 spolupracujem s plaveckým portálom SwimSwam.com a v roku 2017 vyšlo s mojimi fotografiami na tomto portáli nie menej ako 387 článkov v šiestich jazykoch.


I helped a bit in preparation of the promotional materials to the occasion of 20th anniversary of Nereus Zilina swimming club founding.
Svojou troškou do mlyna som prispel aj k príprave propagačných materiálov ku príležitosti 20.-teho výročia založenia plaveckého klubu Nereus Žilina.


Within the occasion, the selection of my swimming photographs was exhibited during several club events, which was also my first exhibition :-)
V rámci tejto akcie sa aj počas viacerých klubových akcií vystavoval výber mojich plaveckých fotografií, čo bola aj moja prvá výstava :-)


Filip Sebo was selected as the central figure of the Zilina Triathlon promotional material and I was proud :-) since I attributed to that with my photos of Filip running and cycling from the previous year.
Za ústrednú postavu vizuálu Žilinského triatlonu bol vybratý Filip Šebo a som pyšný :-) , že som do vizuálu mohol prispieť fotografiami Filipa z behu a cyklistiky z predchádzajúceho ročníka.


Since I am mentioning Nereus, I added other photos from different club events to the archive…
No a keď už píšem o Nereuse, tak do archívu mi pribudli aj fotografie z ďalších klubových akcií…


I am also glad, that Tomas Klobucnik, Slovak swimmer and an Olympian swimmer, in starting his own new website used my photos in particular.
Som takisto rád, že pre štart svojej novej webovej stránky si Tomáš Klobučník, slovenský reprezentant a olympionik, vybral práve moje fotografie.


At the end of the year, I dived into the water with my camera for the first time to make my very first underwater shots during the Slovak Championships of older pupils in Dolny Kubin :-)
No a na záver roka, počas Majstrovstiev Slovenska starších žiakov v Dolnom Kubíne, som po prvýkrát s fotoaparátom vliezol do vody a urobil svoje prvé športové podvodné fotografie :-)


Some of you may find interesting that according to the reactions of my ‘fans’, the most popular of my pictures is the photo of Nicole Topitzerova and her mother after finishing 10 km at Slovak Championships in long-distance swimming in Zlate Piesky. It was raining at the end of the event and her mother was welcoming exhausted Nicole with an umbrella :-)
Možno bude pre niekoho zaujímavé, že podľa reakcii môjho “publika” by som za najpopulárnejšiu mohol vyhlásiť fotografiu Nicole Topitzerovej a jej mamy po doplávaní disciplíny 10km v rámci MSR v diaľkovom plávaní na Zlatých Pieskoch. Disciplína končila za dažďa a mama s dáždnikom vítala vyčerpanú Nicole :-)


The most popular album, without any doubts and to my big surprise, was the one with photos of officials from World Championships in Budapest. After sharing in the group ‘Swimming Officials’of Alfons Wucherpfennig Gaminde, the album reached almost 400 likes :-)
Najpopulárnejším albumom bol bezpochyby na moje veľké prekvapenie album fotografií rozhodcov z MS v Budapešti. Dosiahol po zdieľaní v skupine “Swimming Officials” Alfonsa Wucherpfennig Gamindeho bezmála 400 lajkov :-)


And what about my favourite shots? :-)

If I were to choose an album, it would be the one from the closing ceremony at World Championships in Budapest. About 200 artists from Hungarian Recirguel Contemporary Circus showed magnificent performance…

A moji najväčší “obľúbenci”? :-)

Ak by som mal vybrať album, tak by to bol album zo záverečného ceremoniálu na MS v Budapešti. Približne 200 artistov z Hungarian Recirguel Contemporary Circus previedlo neuveriteľné predstavenie…


And my favourite photo?

A lot of blue colour, beautiful emotion and my kid – ‘three in one’ in the picture of my younger son Martin…

A fotografia?

Veľa modrej farby, krásna emócia a moje dieťa – “3 v jednom” na fotografii môjho mladšieho syna Martina…
